As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. (Proverbs 27:17)
To be used by the Holy Spirit building and developing men to do the work of the ministry
BUILDING CHAMPIONS exists to AWAKEN men’s hearts towards God, family and the communities of the world via the following ministries.
Majoring in Men Classes
A Bible-based three (3) year curriculum where men read and study nine (9) books that were authored by Dr. Edwin Louis Cole. Men can choose classes conducted on Monday evening, Tuesday evening (2 classes) and Thursday morning, with 10 to 15 men in each class. The objective of these classes are to cause every man to strive and live out that “Christlikeness and manhood are synonymous”. At the end of the three-year class assignment, the men participate in a Commissioning Celebration that is conducted every year on Father’s Day. The men who have completed all nine (9) books are honored by Bishop La Fayette Scales and Pastor Dan Harris. These men receive a certificate and a sword of honor.
Building Champions Weekend
Men gather three (3) times a year for the purpose of fellowshipping and sharing a BIG breakfast. Bishop Scales provides a hearty desert by teaching a relevant Word on Friday at 7:00pm. and at our BIG Breakfast scheduled on Saturday at 9:00am.

Join the men for a “guy’s night out” you won’t regret the next morning! At least once a year, we meet to applaud our own minor league baseball team, Columbus Clippers. The Clippers are the AAA development team for the Cleveland Indians. They’re housed in Huntington Park, in the Arena District downtown.
Once a year, the men of Building Champions gathers their fishing utensils, grills and garments…oops, I forgot a tub full of fresh fish, and meet in the parking lot of Rhema for an afternoon of frying fish. This event is more than an event. It is an outing where men can catch up on the latest news about their families, bowling scores, politics, etc. This is a great and wholesome gathering of frying, selling fish to the Rhema members and communities.
