Classroom Security

Children of Victory takes a number of steps to ensure children are safe and secure from the moment they enter the classroom to the moment they are released to their parent or guardian.

One of the initiatives we take to ensure the safety of children is our robust registration system.

By utilizing the ParentPager software for all classrooms, the Children of Victory ministry is able to offer:

  • On-site registration
  • Assisted check in/out
  • Real-time student count
  • Printed name tags for students and teachers

We require all children to be accompanied by a registered parent or guardian over the age of 18 during check-in and check-out. Volunteers are also stationed at each registration point during the beginning of service to assist in the registration process.

In each classroom, COV makes an effort to have two trained teachers in the classroom at all times. Every teacher undergoes a background check and a thorough interview process before becoming a teacher in our ministry.

Every classroom maintains at least one walkie talkie during service to enable communication with the church security before, during, and after service.

Volunteer Screening Policy

Rhema Christian Center Children of Victory seeks to provide a safe and secure environment for the children who participate in our programs and activities. By implementing the below practices, our goal is to provide a safe environment while under the care of Children of Victory volunteers.

For purposes of this policy, the terms “child” or “children” include all persons under the age of eighteen (18) years. The term “worker” includes both paid and unpaid persons who work with children. The term “volunteer” means anyone involved in the direct care or supervision of children.

Selection of Workers

All persons who desire to work with the children participating in our programs and activities will be screened. This screening includes the following:

1. One Year Rule

No person will be considered for any volunteer position involving contact with minors until she/he has been involved with Rhema Christian Center for a minimum of twelve (12) months. This time of interaction between our leadership and the applicant allows for better evaluation and suitability of the applicant for working with children.

2. Written Application

All persons seeking to work with children must complete and sign a written application. The application will request basic information from the applicant and will inquire into previous experience with children, previous church affiliation and employment information, as well as disclosure of any previous criminal convictions. The application form will be maintained in confidence on file at the church.

3. Personal Interview

Upon completion of the application, a face-to-face interview will be scheduled with the applicant to discuss his/her suitability for the position.

4. Completion of Newcomers’ Class

Before an applicant is permitted to work with children, the applicant is required to successfully complete the Rhema Christian Center Newcomers Lessons. These lessons provide an overview of Rhema Christian Center, its vision, mission, and purpose in the kingdom of God.

5. Criminal Background Check

A national criminal background check is required for all employees (regardless of position) and “volunteers” as defined above.
